In the past five years, Worth the Wait has made significant strides in supporting adolescent and young adult (AYA) cancer survivors through the intersection of survivorship and family building. Since our inception, we have:
Expanded Financial Access: We have awarded preservation and family-building grants to 243 young cancer survivors, processing 554 total applications from a pool of 1,920 requests. Most importantly, we’ve welcomed 25 “Worth the Wait” babies.
Driven Education & Advocacy: Our team has served as patient advocates at 12 national conferences and directly educated over 5,000 patients and clinicians about the critical importance of oncofertility though partnerships with 20+ nonprofits.
Influenced Policy: We have initiated essential legislative work in Ohio, laying the groundwork for broader systemic change in fertility preservation coverage.
Built Community & Support: We have launched a dedicated support group called the Oncofertility Huddle for patients and established a patient advocacy program to amplify the voices of those navigating this journey.
This journey reflects our unwavering commitment to ensuring that every young cancer survivor is empowered to plan for the future they hope to have. If you’d like to commemorate our 5th anniversary, please make a donation so we can continue to grow and provide hope to young people with cancer.
